Eaton Corporation Accounting Specialist - Healthcare & Benefits in Beachwood, Ohio

Eaton is currently seeking a Healthcare & Benefits Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Beachwood, OH.

Position Overview:

This position is a well-organized and self-motivated individual who has end-to-end responsibility of the accounting and forecasting of healthcare and other benefits. This individual is an important liaison between Finance and Human Resources. They will provide primary support and guidance to Human Resources regarding accounting and systems issues; perform monthly close duties; and lead internal and external audits.

In this role, you will:

  • Owner of all US healthcare financials including healthcare and pharmacy claims, all administrative and other plan expenses, life insurance, and health savings accounts

  • Build and maintain healthcare forecasts with input from key HR partners and 3rd party specialists

  • Review expense accounts to ensure US GAAP compliance, integrity of account balances/financial reporting and effectiveness of business processes

  • Monitor and review the financial ledgers to ensure compliance with US laws, US GAAP/IFRS, tax codes, government regulations and filing requirements

  • Formulate reserves including incurred but not reported claims and rebates; prepare journal entries with appropriate support for these balances

  • Lead financial statement preparation for annual 5500 audits

  • Support SOX Auditors with technical questions related to health and welfare

  • Drive closure of open audit issues and proactively work to prevent future issues/manage risk. Oversee resulting corrective action process.

  • Oversee account reconciliations, key performance indicators, and closing activities ensuring high quality and timely delivery of financial information

  • Identify potential risks and opportunities and communicate effectively to key stakeholders

  • Perform ad hoc special projects as they relate to healthcare accounting

  • Build strong relationships with the Finance, Accounting, & HR teams and have the necessary expertise to understand and resolve technical or operational issues

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution

  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in accounting and/or finance

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business and/or finance

  • CPA

  • Prior experience with benefits and healthcare plans
