Physician Engagement Internship

The Bon Secours Mercy Health Internship Program is a paid 10-12 week, immersive program that will expose students to the healthcare industry while also giving them the skills and experience needed to build a future career. The program also features additional opportunities for mentorship, networking, career & professional development, community service, job shadowing, and exposure to senior and executive leaders. Interns will work under the direction of Mercy Health leadership by assisting the assigned team with various special projects.

Location: Home Office in Cincinnati, OH (other locations may be available)

Dates: Monday, May 24th, 2021 - Friday, August 6th, 2021

Hours: 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks

Internship openings available with the following departments:

Physician Engagement – Burnout affects 43% of our physicians. Intern will work with the Director for Provider Professional Development on an assigned project devoted to physician/provider well-being, engagement, and burnout. This will include meeting with various leaders, planning strategy and writing a final report. Responsibilities include:

  • Learn about physician wellbeing and burnout and how it impacts our healthcare organization

  • Accreditation project

  • Job shadow clinical operations and interactions with Physician/Providers/Preceptors in a clinical setting

  • Research, develop, and implement solutions to solve provider burnout

  • Support provider engagement survey

  • Support Summer Physician Leadership program

  • Will received exposure to both clinical and corporate settings, as well as organizational management

Target Majors: Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Psychology/Social Work, Pre-med, Organizational Leadership

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Service Administration, Public Health, Health Promotion, Pre-med, Psychology, Finance/Accounting, Economics, Communications, etc.

  • Strong service orientation

  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and sense of accountability

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite – specifically Excel and PowerPoint

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, and effectively manage deadlines

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and have strong rapport with the leaders and colleagues

  • Ability to work independently

  • Entrepreneurial mindset

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong time management and organization skills
