American Heart Association Quality & Healthcare IT Programs Manager, Outpatient in Dallas, Texas

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Quality & Health Information Technology (HIT) Programs Manager, Outpatient based out of our National Center office!

This position can be remote/home office based but must have solid internet connection.

Responsible for the development and implementation of the outpatient quality programs in the assigned market for improving care and treatment of outpatient (CVD/CVD risk) patients, including blood pressure, lipid management, diabetes, and other conditions. Responsible for developing key partner and customer relationships in outpatient health settings for technical and clinical quality projects. Responsible for collecting technology requirements and facilitating system interoperability for data submission process.

  • Recruit, contract, and onboard outpatient organizations to health technology solution by facilitating decision making and managing project milestones amongst key clinical and technical stakeholders.

  • Provide consultation, direction and support on clinic barriers to support better clinical care and outcomes. Act as the liaison between hospitals and clinics to facilitate ongoing processes of quality system of care processes

  • Coordinate efforts with client organization to set and meet project goals and objectives, including communications, training, and quality improvement. Travel to project sites to conduct encouraged site visits and provide educational assistance

  • Facilitate and provide expertise to integrate customer technology and participation procedures for data submission with AHA and vendor systems. Act as liaison between interdepartmental and region AHA staff in to improve quality improvement account management, programs, and participant experience.

  • Develop and communicate project status, targets, and success to leadership. Work with national staff and external partners (sponsors and AMA) through ongoing face-to-face meetings to ensure program results are being met according to timeline

  • Supports national programmatic offerings for quality improvement programs such as educational events, materials, and external dissemination

  • Analyze results of training, education, and data submissions to continually evaluate next steps and needs in the defined market. Ensure that issues related to data (within Get with The Guidelines) are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner

  • Participate in product improvement activities and partner with HIT team members to deliver meaningful product improvements and functionality to participating organizations


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Two (2) – Five (5) years of validated experience

  • Experience in healthcare or in a public health-related organization with clinical, quality improvement, program development or systems improvement responsibilities

  • Project management skills and experience; experience in influencing performance without direct line accountability

  • Experience and understanding of healthcare information technology such as e-medical records, healthcare IT or related systems or database functions [KO] . Experience in interoperability projects is a plus.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical requirements to improve data sharing and integration

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Ability to function independently with minimal direction

  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of AHA staff, volunteers, and the public

  • Comprehensive Microsoft Office suite skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 5% local and overnight stay (Once COVID restrictions are lifted)

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of assigned health concern or disease such as CVD risk factors
