Opportunities for community and team involvementand leadership are both abundant and encouraged.***While experience as a paralegal is preferred, this Paralegal II positioncould be a great opportunity for a motivated and organized individual withfederal healthcare regulatory and legal document experience, who isinterested in joining a collegial and proactive legal department.***GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE PARALEGAL II JOB:This Paralegal II position provides legal support to Regulatory Counselrelating to compliance with federal healthcare laws and regulations, as wellas State equivalents, including but not limited to drafting policies andlegal documents; reviewing and analyzing documents and field-teammatefacing education and training materials to identify areas of regulatoryrisk; supporting Counsel to appropriately address situation-specificquestions; and working directly with field teammates to operationalizesolutions to business and clinical needs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARALEGAL II:Research, analysis and communication of legal facts and conceptsIdentification and communication of potential legal issues for RegulatoryCounsel's guidanceLegal research of state and federal laws, regulations, and policiesDaily communication and interaction with field teammates relating to assignedareasDraft communications to both legislative and government agenciesPreparation, review, and revision of complex legal documents and legalcommunications as directed by attorneysAssistance on special projectsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned include, but are not limited to:Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as neededKnow, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies,and department or company proceduresEssential Traits for Success in this Paralegal II position:Interest in or experience with translating legal jargon into "regular" speakAbility to approach sensitive situations with a pragmatic eye towards acompassionate and feasible solution for all involvedCan-do attitude, and a drive to take on new responsibilities with thesupport of a tightknit team.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with anability to listen attentively and communicate effectively throughout alllevels of the organizationDemonstrated professionalism and courtesy in responding to phone calls andemailsDemonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groupsDemonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-buildingskills; ability to interact positively with teammates at all levels acrossthe companyExcellent organizational, attention to detail, and follow-through skillsAbility to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adjust prioritiesappropriately in an evolving work environment with shifting time framesSelf-directed; able to work independently and as a member of a team, andto foster a positive work environmentWorking knowledge of fraud, waste and abuse laws (anti-kickback statute,false claims act) helpful but not requiredEssential Qualifications for the Paralegal II:High school diploma or equivalent requiredAdvanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint andOutlook requiredMinimum of four (4) years' paralegal experience preferredAssociate's degree or Certificate in Paralegal Stu
