Colliers Project Leaders’ Edmonton office has been leading the development of the New Edmonton Hospital Project ($2 Billion) and as a result are looking to further build our healthcare team. As Owner’s Representative and Planning Consultant, we are leading a team responsible for master planning, design management, functional programming, schematic/indicative design, technical requirements and compliance monitoring.

What success looks like:

Who you are:

We’re looking for a Senior Design Manager with previous experience working on large healthcare projects and providing oversight to consultants through master planning, functional programming, design phases and delivery of projects varying in scope, complexity and procurement methodology.

You are well respected in the healthcare industry and bring knowledge and experience working alongside high performing teams, and consistently exceed client expectations.

The position is open to candidates from across Canada, with the expectation of travel (minimum 1-2x/month) to Edmonton, Alberta through the course of the New Edmonton Hospital Project. Applicants based in Alberta are preferred. We will support candidates looking to relocate either permanently or temporarily to Alberta for this opportunity.

What you bring:

  • At least 10 to 15 years of experience working on major healthcare projects (e.g. $500M+) from inception through to construction and handover, providing oversight and management of design teams and consultants, and representing owner’s interests

  • A university degree in architecture or design or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience relevant to leading large building projects in the healthcare industry

  • Recent and relevant experience in establishing design parameters and deliverables for all disciplines of a major healthcare project

  • Prior experience operating in a consulting environment within the healthcare services domain

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively influence, manage conflict and resolve a variety of client, design, project and technical issues

  • Strong knowledge of master planning and design management, functional programming, procurement methodologies, construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as contract law and relevant legislation
