The construction project manager will lead a collaborative effort among client team members by providing unbiased perspectives, visualizing each groups concerns and offer valuable inputs to the overall success of each project. The manager filters information between client staff and construction teams, communicates construction industry standards, and maintains project dates and milestones.
The construction manager effectively manages schedules, multiple general contractors, and construction subs. The manager provides feedback and coordination between multiple contractors, project managers, architects and the hospital engineering staff (both internally and externally). This includes but not limited to understanding the balance between finances, time constraints, staff needs and patient experiences.
The construction manager is expected to provide leadership and direction on multiple on-going projects from original design conception to completion. Complete and informative daily, weekly, and monthly reports are expected to provide hospital administration with the status of current and future projects and ensure client expectations are being met. Managers will be responsible for sending out workplace notifications while working directly with hospital engineering staff and infection prevention teams.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of emotional intelligence, conflict resolution skills and have strong verbal communication all while being a team player. Effective written communication skills are expected along with the ability to use Microsoft suite products. Individuals should have experience and knowledge in healthcare construction.
Serves as project manager embedded with client’s staff. Managing a project’s overall effort for client including managing a team, coordinating work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel). Recognized as key client contact point and decision-maker. Attends client meetings as MBP Representative. Prepares, monitors and manages client project budgets and internal budgets. Analyzes and optimizing internal and external processes.
Business development, personnel management, maintains certifications and re-certifications, participation in company activities.
B.S. in industry-related field preferred. Professional registration, other job relevant certification such as CCM, CHC, OSHA-10, OSHA-30, or advanced specialized technical knowledge. Detailed knowledge of construction, principles of construction management and project controls, with an emphasis on healthcare related construction and specialized knowledge in several areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, construction techniques. Knowledge of personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training and business development.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Expertise with MBP's diverse services. Provides leadership and training to other team members. Direct client contact and client care. Operates at level of expert in one or more service areas with responsibility for final work product.
High level of familiarity/experience with healthcare construction projects.
Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
Generally able to work independently and determine solutions. Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach.
