Overview of Position

The Healthcare Representative act as advocates and meet with patients and their families daily. They are responsible for tracking every application they receive and obtaining high rates of successful outcomes. Locations: Broward Imperial Point and Broward Medical Center

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:30am - 8pm EST, requires weekend and holiday rotations based on business needs.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Interviewing clients in a hospital setting and/or home visits to assist them in obtaining maximum benefit coverage.

  • Completing application for state and federal programs, reviewing medical records and taking all actions necessary to expedite benefit approval.

  • May be responsibility for maintaining ongoing communications with government agencies regarding the status of claims.

  • Provide updates and assistance to hospital personnel and other staff as needed.

  • Maintain documentation of status of claims and client contact on Change Healthcare computer system.

  • Other responsibilities that are customer specific.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s in psychology, health or science and/or 1-2 years healthcare experience.

  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Reliable transportation is required.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Strong Communication skills (verbal and written); demonstrated experience working with people of various educational and socioeconomic backgrounds (healthcare setting preferred), experience communicating with government caseworkers and hospital personnel.

  • Strong organization skills – ability to prioritize, plan and follow tasks through to completion without direct supervision.

  • Computer skills, including word processing (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, preferred).

  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of federal and state programs to benefit coverage for the client.

  • Prior understanding of and ability to apply the medical definition of disability as it relates to body systems and to functions of daily living is preferred.

  • Prior experience with reading and applying the information contained in medical records.

  • Previous clinical experience preferred or knowledge in medical terminology is preferred.

How much should I expect to travel?

  • Travel between 2 hospital locations

  • Employees in roles that require travel will need to be able to qualify for a company credit card or be able to use their own personal credit card for travel expenses and submit for reimbursement.
