Make your mark in public service. As an accredited public health department, we're seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of 55 Driver Safety Program Consultant located in Atlanta, GA to join the Division of Health Protection and Safety, Injury Prevention Section. Won't you join us?

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position will consist of 30 hours a week.

  • Under supervision, provides technical assistance and training within a health care specialty.

  • Assists with planning, directing, and implementing a specialty health oriented program.

  • Evaluates programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines.

  • This Program Consultant will assist the 55 Driver Safety Program Manager with the implementation of the Georgia Older Driver Safety Program.

  • This position works to achieve the goals and objectives described in the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), Older Driver Safety Program grant application.

  • This position will strive to maintain the goals and objectives of the State Highway Safety Plan in relation to best practices for aging road users and maintain a relationship with allied Task Teams described in the Plan.

  • In addition, will focus on program implementation, community educational presentations, data interpretation, and assist with evaluation activities.

* Position responsibilities*

  1. Share responsibility for planning, coordinating and implementing grant activities and required reports.

  2. Implement the Yellow Dot Program (recruitment of sites, planning and attendance at enrollment events, providing technical assistance to sites, and creation of technical support materials

  3. Support the CarFit Program by seeking sponsors, supporting sponsor events, maintaining open communications with CarFit Coordinators and Technicians. Will attend courses to become a CarFit Technician and courses to become a CarFit Coordinator within the first 12 months of employment.

  4. Review, interpret, and report on research, education, and/or data to create targeted older driver safety outreach.

  5. Using presentations, provide education and/or technical assistance to Georgia’s first responders, medical providers, citizens, and partners.

  6. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in older driver safety and healthy aging by reading technical reports, updates, books, journals, and other literature and attending related seminars and conferences. Applies pertinent new knowledge to recommend program, policy, and best practices.

  7. Research a monthly report on relevant, new research or news items related to aging drivers.

  8. Ensure that program strategic plans are aligned with Agency and State objectives.

  9. Survey development, administration, and basic analysis to evaluate program effectiveness.

  10. Facilitate and lead meetings with partners and with groups to further older driver safety and healthy aging. Attend, and report on, all meetings of the 55 Driver Safety Program Task Team

  11. Support annual events such as Road Design for Aging Drivers Workshop, Aging Driver Symposium, and other events hosted by partners.

  12. Maintain the information on the 55 Driver Safety Program website.

  13. Responsible to assist with other activities as needed.

Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience performing work related to area of assignment OR Six years of experience performing work related to area of assignment. Note: Some positions may require licensure.
