The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Healthcare Program Supervisor within the Division of Health Protection, Injury Prevention Program. This position supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff; provides technical assistance and training within a health care specialty. In addition, this position plans, directs, implements, and evaluates programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines
The Department of Public Health Injury Prevention Program received a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The overall purpose of the 55 driver safety program is to: Reduce the burden of motor vehicle injury for Georgian’s 55 by promoting safe driving practices, improving roadway environments, Encouraging healthy behaviors on and off Georgia roadways, and informing the professionals that serve this population of best-practices for this vulnerable population.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Develop, implement, and evaluate injury prevention programming related to older driver safety and other injury prevention programming.
2. Meet deliverables for program grants from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety;
3. Provide statewide technical assistance and support to health departments and other program partners;
4. Identify, coordinate, implement, and evaluate educational and training programs related to older drivers and highway safety;
Evaluate the effectiveness of program interventions;
Report on the status of grant objectivities;
Recommend policies and procedures related to older driver safety in Georgia;
Prepare grant proposals;
Administer contracts for services; and,
Communicate and collaborate with state, federal, and community organizations to promote optimal implementation of older driving injury prevention programming.
5. Manager grant budget and Supervise program staff and interns
The program consultant is also responsible for convening and leading the Georgia Older Driver Task Force, as part of the Governor’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). As the Task Team leader for the Older Driver Task Force, the candidate will be the point of contact for the Task Force and coordinate all task force activities, including collaborating with group members to implement strategies, plan meetings, and respond to requests from the SHSP Leadership Team.
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, One year of which in a supervisory role OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, Two years of which in a supervisory role OR One year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 3 (HCP092) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require licensure.
