Bilingual Healthcare Representative – Lake Forest, IL
Overview of PositionHCRs act as advocates and meet with patients and their families daily. They are responsible for tracking every application they receive and obtaining high rates of successful outcomes. Location: NW Lake Forest Hospital
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Interviewing clients in a hospital setting and/or home visits to assist them in obtaining maximum benefit coverage.
Working within Inpatient team.
Completing application for state and federal programs, reviewing medical records and taking all actions necessary to expedite benefit approval.
May be responsibility for maintaining ongoing communications with government agencies regarding the status of claims.
Provide updates and assistance to hospital personnel and other staff as needed.
Maintain documentation of status of claims and client contact on Change Healthcare and hospital computer system.
Other responsibilities that are customer specific.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
4-year college degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent is required.
1-2 years’ experience in healthcare or customer-service environment.
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Ability to apply knowledge of federal and state programs to benefit coverage for the client.
Understanding of and ability to apply the medical definition of disability as it relates to body systems and to functions of daily living.
Ability to read and apply the information contained in medical records.
Previous clinical experience preferred or knowledge in medical terminology.
Strong Communication skills (verbal and written); demonstrated experience working with people of various educational and socioeconomic backgrounds (healthcare setting preferred), experience communicating with government caseworkers and hospital personnel.
Strong organization skills – ability to prioritize, plan and follow tasks through to completion without direct supervision.
Computer skills, including word processing (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, preferred).
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Prior work experience within a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state programs that will benefit coverage for the client preferred
Demonstrated experience working with people of various educational and socioeconomics background preferred
Ability to travel to other locations preferred
