Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Performs a variety of routine tasks to support the delivery of safe, effective, cost-efficient patient care as delegated by the RN. They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning functions in patient care unit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Keeps patient environment clean, performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, no food or drink at the workstation, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautions

  2. Displays a positive image by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior towards patients, physicians, visitors, volunteers and other employees.

  3. Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff

  4. Monitors and records vital signs

  5. Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output

  6. Obtains and records daily weight

  7. Performs as patient care companion when needed

  8. Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process

  9. Transports patients to and from the appropriate care areas using the appropriate method of transportation.

  10. Maintains the cleanliness of carts, stretchers, wheelchairs and other transportation equipment, and monitors equipment to ensure proper working order.

  11. Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel

  12. Updates assigned bed status

  13. Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms, call lights, telephones and alerting the correct person

  14. Other duties as assigned by manager
