MITRE’s Health Innovation Center of MITRE Labs is dedicated to improving healthcare through strategic and technology-based transformation. We advise federal agencies through all phases of evolution of their healthcare transformation from high-level strategic planning to program acquisition and oversight. MITRE is currently supporting multiple projects at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration and other HHS agencies, as well as the Veterans Health Administration and the Defense Health Agency. We have a need for systems engineers with strong analytical backgrounds and significant experience with healthcare processes, information technology systems, and data integration. This position requires a candidate who can leverage their experience to assess the “big picture” and contribute to the development of actionable strategic solutions.

Position Description : The Health Systems Engineering and Process Integration Group employs a disciplined and structured approach, tailoring system engineering tools, techniques, and proven practices to address healthcare and health-related specific problems. We are looking for individuals who have domain knowledge in public health, provider, payer and/or life sciences and experience working with federal/state/local agencies. Candidates can look forward to engaging with and supporting high-functioning, creative teams while building their knowledge base and working relationships across the MITRE Corporation.

Position Key Functions : The selected candidate should be able to conduct strategic and tactical planning, interface with customers, support/lead project management functions, and interact with both public and private sector entities in advising Federal health agencies on a portfolio of health IT projects. The position requires the ability to manage a combination of complex technical, clinical, financial, and analytical responsibilities. Integral to success will be developing working relationships within MITRE across all levels of staff, including management and executives to leverage the Corporation’s deep experience across a broad set of domains. This senior technical leader will also be required to deliver strategic advice and counsel to HHS, DOD, VA, and other healthcare entities for the advancement of health outcomes via health information technology. Candidates will participate in and lead high-functioning, creative teams while building knowledge and working relationships across the MITRE Corporation. Other position functions may include working with teams to apply end-to-end supply chain analysis, agent-based or system dynamic models to address healthcare problems, applying expertise in interoperability standards and technologies, providing subject matter expertise in areas such as interoperability of medical devices, electronic health records, telehealth technologies, and/or communications infrastructures. Candidates may lead technical and/or functional components of any given project guiding other teams or team members on how to further refine organizational designs, business processes, and improve application of data management principles and processes.

Minimum Qualifications : The selected candidate will have a Master’s Degree or higher in a discipline within systems engineering or healthcare which may include components of biomedical engineering, computer science, or information systems. The candidate will have senior consultancy and customer relationship interaction experience, demonstrating the ability to apply critical thinking to a wide variety of problems. A reas of expertise may include supply chain management principles and processes, experience with public/private partnerships, and related information systems, and investment strategies. Experience conducting complex analysis, design, and construction of the next generation of heath IT standards, systems, and processes is a must. It is expected that the candidate offers a solid knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, product and project lifecycles, and requirements analysis and management. A critical component of success in this role is the ability to work with and guide inter-disciplinary teams while offering a robust analytical skillset and bringing an intellectually curious mindset.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$156,400 - $211,300 - $298,000 Annual
