Summary of Position

The Senior Program Manager, Business Analytics is part of the MHC organization and plays a key leadership role in developing, implementing, and managing the data and analytics deliverables for our portfolio of consulting services and solutions. In this role, you will work directly with the MHC team and our clients to create comprehensive analytics-driven strategic recommendations to improve the clinical, operational, and financial performance of health care organizations. You will secure project materials, analyze data, and prepare client-facing reports that summarize key findings, market opportunities, financial assessment, recommendations, and next steps. Approaching work with an entrepreneurial mindset, securing internal partner engagement through collaboration with cross-functional teams, communicating with clarity to internal leaders and hospital executives, and delivering high-quality deliverables will be imperative to your success in this role.

This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Engagement within the Medtronic Healthcare Consulting organization and is focused on the delivery of our consulting solutions to U.S. Market Enterprise Accounts.

A Day in the Life

You will lead all aspects of data and analytics support for our MHC portfolio of solutions and services and be responsible for the following:

  • Work with MHC Engagement Team partners to outline key engagement objectives, timelines, and milestones and prioritize projects

  • Anticipate, understand, prioritize and meet hospital analytics/business information needs

  • Facilitate acquisition, analysis, and visualization of complex healthcare datasets from multiple data sources, including client and 3rd party sources

  • Perform various analyses related to market opportunity, revenue, cost, reimbursement, margin, utilization, process performance, and quality

  • Deliver and communicate impactful analytics and insights to Healthcare Consulting clients (C-suite, hospital administration, payers, and physicians) demonstrating mastery of market, economic and clinical data

  • Design and prepare high-quality deliverables (PowerPoint slides, Excel analytics models, etc.) for client engagements

  • Communicate with hospital clients to identify and resolve data issues

  • Participate in face-to-face or virtual client meetings and strategic discussions

  • Develop patient- and client-centric analyses intended to characterize the clinical, economic, and operational outcomes of our Medtronic Healthcare Consulting engagements. Support data collection and analysis of the impact of our MHC engagements on MHC Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Lead cross-functional teams including influencing across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties on program objectives and execution plans

  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for the MHC team for all business analytics needs

  • Partner with the MHC Innovation team to develop and prepare for the launch of new solutions

  • Identify new data sources, platforms, technologies, and tools that have the potential to increase client value or the efficiency and scale of MHC engagements

  • Identify and execute on opportunities to streamline data collection and analysis, resulting in consistent and repeatable business processes for client interactions with Medtronic

  • Partner with MHC Engagement, Innovation and Executive Experience teams to drive continuous improvement in our services and solutions and inform business decisions regarding iteration, expansion, or termination of these offerings

  • Work in collaboration with legal, compliance, and other business groups to ensure strict adherence to appropriate customer engagement processes

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7years ofexperience in Program Management within hospital finance, healthcare administration, decision support, business intelligence, or healthcare consulting or advanced degree with a minimum of 5years experience.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

  • Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Health Care Administration (MHA), or related field

  • Prior work experience which includes:Hospital settings, particularly within cardiovascular, neuroscience, and/or orthopedic service lines

  • Health care strategic business planning, with an emphasis on value-based care, payer strategy, and alternative payment models including accountable care organizations, bundled payments and medical home models

  • Financial modeling with expertise in methodologies of shared savings, bundled payments, capitation, population-based payments and other progressive payment models

  • Strong data and analytic abilities. Ability to develop analytics frameworks and perform detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to solve complex problems which impact multiple workstreams, departments or specialties.

  • Solid understanding of hospital operations, financials, coding, and billing practices. Proficiency in the analysis of health care data (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, DRG) within a hospital, payor, or health care services organization. Understanding of cost accounting principles, including direct and indirect cost allocation methodologies within health systems.

  • Strong proficiency with software-based analytic applications, with proficiency in advanced analytics software (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, SAS) preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Experience and proven ability to achieve results in complex, highly matrixed organizations

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively

  • Proactive approach: able to think several steps ahead, anticipate stakeholder needs, and suggest improvements to existing processes

  • Learning mindset and openness to feedback; willingness to expand responsibilities and coach/teach others

  • Excellent communication skills, including preparation and delivery of concise and compelling business presentations to senior Medtronic executives and external healthcare executives

  • Solid interpersonal skills and commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and clients to achieve mutual goals
