The mission of Clinical Data Operations is to improve Mount Sinai Health System performance and outcomes by providing leadership and care teams with quantifiable data and insights needed for operations, clinical performance measurement, quality improvement, analytics, and outcomes research. We provide solutions to integrate, cleanse, govern, translate and dispense information across Mount Sinai Health System’s clinical institutes and clinical care service lines.

Our team is seeking a Technical Lead, Healthcare Analytics to understand, interpret, automate and provide overall technical implementation and technical support to quality measurement program initiatives (US News ranking, pay-for-performance).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain measures catalog for all hospital measurement systems.

  • Work closely with Head of Clinical Analytics, Program Coordinator, and Business Analysts to identify, track and update technical implementation of measures, benchmarks, and targets in MSHS data ecosystem.

  • Lead technical operations for Hospital Performance team including but not limited to measure builds, scheduling routine data table updates, recommendations for data architecture, and automated data quality checks.

  • Works with leadership to expedite problem identification and resolution.

  • Conducts methodology reviews and stays up to date on measure specifications to support measure catalog and keep it current.

  • Works collaboratively to promote positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Works to ensure all necessary communications are timely and accurate

  • Develop understanding of complex quality-based measurement programs such as US News rankings, Commercial, and CMS pay-for-performance programs including measures and algorithms for patient cohorts.

  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator on development and maintenance of measures catalog including database tables, measure specifications, documentation, user guides, benchmarks and targets.

  • Maintaining organizational knowledge for key programs as they evolve and staying current with methodology changes.

  • Representing hospital performance team in technical discussions regarding data architecture and infrastructure for larger departmental organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's (required) or Master's (preferred) in related field.

  • Strong or expert level Excel skills and strong or expert level skills in 1 of either SAS, SQL, or R.

  • Self-motivated with strong organization and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects through to successful completion within agreed upon deadlines. Able to learn quickly on the job with minimal guidance.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with CMS programs VBP, HAC, and/or HRRP.

  • Familiarity with key data sets: HCAHPS, Hospital Acquired Infections, and/or others available on CMS Hospital Compare website.

  • Prior work in a clinical healthcare setting.

  • Understanding of healthcare clinical operations, workflow, policies, and procedures.
