HGA Architects & Engineers Business Development - Healthcare + Corporate in Sacramento, California

HGA is an award-winning architecture, engineering and planning firm with an excellent opportunity in our Sacramento office for an experienced business developer for our Healthcare and Corporate (H+C) market sectors. We are looking for a person who is passionate, innovative and seeking to be at the top of their game. This role reports to H+C Practice Group Leaders and focuses on assisting with strategic planning, identifying target clients, building and maintaining a strong network, and positioning the firm to win impactful, enduring work.

Most of your time will be spent:

  • Working with H+C Principals to develop a list of potential targeted clients and project opportunities that support the market-driven strategy of the H&C Market Sectors.

  • Building and maintaining relationships through a consultative and solutions-based approach with decision makers at the organizations identified as targeted clients.

  • Researching leads and making cold or warm calls to potential clients, evaluating and targeting prospects based on evaluation criteria.

  • Developing and maintaining strong business network contacts to keep abreast of industry, client and competitor activity as well as identify strong project partners.

  • Have an understanding of current H+C business trends within your geographic region.

  • Possessing a deep understanding of clients, their business and their needs to help our firm preposition through strong relationships.

  • Meeting with H+C Principals on a regular basis to strategize, track and inform collaborative efforts in client contact activities and prepositioning.

  • Be a trusted partner with Principals to inform pursuit and interview strategy as part of “go/no-go” decisions.

  • Assisting the H+C Principals in budgeting and monitoring the overall marketing budget. Work with marketing department to report KPI's.

  • Collaborating with marketing team to develop proposals and other marketing collateral for client engagement.

  • Manage and leverage Co-star – Commercial Real Estate information data system in regularly tracking and developing leads.

    There will also be times you will:

  • Collaborate with other offices and market sectors.

  • Identify and represent HGA at key industry associations, events and coordinate participation of other key HGA personnel.

  • Work closely with marketing team and outside PR Agency to address communication strategy and media plan.

  • Coach and mentor project teams on business development strategy and skills.

  • Coach and mentor project teams on interview preparation.

  • Update CRM data (in Deltek Vision) database on a timely basis and build relationships.

  • Perform other secondary duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Previous experience in sales or business development, with the ability to strengthen and further deepen our existing client relationships.

  • Experience in a design-related field preferred.

  • An interest to work with a dynamic team.

  • Strategy for networking to support business development goals.

  • Be self-motivated and driven to achieve practice group goals for business development.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that are adaptive to a wide range of personalities.

  • Motivation and be eager to collaborate and expand network as needed for areas you may not be as familiar with.

  • BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Architecture, Engineering or related field.

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Products – Word, Excel,PowerPoint.

  • Skills in Deltek Vision and/or other CRM/real estate software, is helpful. If not proficient, has a strong acumen to learn new technologies and software.

  • Skills with Adobe Creative Suite or another publisher-type software is helpful.

  • This position requires frequent early morning, evening and some weekend event attendance outside of normal business hours.

  • This position may require frequent air and over-the-road travel.
