Job Purpose and Reporting Structure:
The Healthcare Billing Specialist is responsible for overseeing billing operations and processes in order to ensure collection of account balances. The Healthcare Billing Specialist will work closely with other programs and departments and will report to the Controller.
Job Type: Full Time, Day Hours.
Job Class: Entry Level
Pay Rate: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
Location: Temporarily Remote, occasional visits to the office as needed, St Paul MN 55108.
Meet regularly with program staff to review results, discuss issues, and provide suggestions on resolution. Effective problem solving skills are essential in this position.
Collaborate with other finance team members to improve cross training. Provide assistance and support to other team members.
Manage clearing house process for Medicaid/Medicare eligibility and claims payment.
Assist with posting insurance cash receipts, denials, and adjustments.
Strive to continually reduce aging balance and bad debt expense.
Prepare reports for management as requested. Assist with audits and monthly close process.
Must be able to serve as a positive role model for other employees and the people supported by Accord.
Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Associate’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.
Clerical and administrative experience required.
Must be accurate and detail oriented. Must be able to work independently.
Prior experience with Medicaid billing and/or Health Care billing is strongly preferred.
Must be able to work with staff from other departments in order to follow up and resolve problems. Must have strong customer service skills.
Must have strong technical skills. Proficient with accounting software and MS Office. Experience with clearinghouse functions is preferred. Microsoft Dynamics and Cashe Software experience is preferred.
Must pass a Department of Human Services background study.
The Healthcare Billing Specialist in this position typically works the majority of the time in an office setting. Candidates will be expected to work generally Monday-Friday, daytime hours, with some flexibility based on program needs.
