VMware Senior Solutions Architect - Healthcare - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Salt Lake City, Utah

As the Senior Solutions Architect (SA) for Healthcare, you will provide technical leadership for critical strategic program opportunities and initiatives in the Healthcare market, notably providers and payers. You will lead through collaborating, developing, reviewing, and implementing program-specific technical and business strategies. You will develop solutions based on workshops you lead with our most strategic customers. These workshops will be your vehicle to gather requirements to help define a "To-Be" state/solution for your customer. You will work closely with the Capture Manager, Account Sales Reps, Pre-Sales Solutions Engineers, and Sales Leaders in developing complex and transformational technical strategies and solutions.

You will use Systems Engineering and Architecture skills, knowledge of VMware and other commercial cloud solutions (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform), along with your knowledge of Healthcare IT Enterprise requirements to provide a program-tailored technical solution. You will own your business and lead collaboration, development, review, and implementation of triple aim focused and program-specific strategies and solutions. You will execute Solutions Workshops with our most strategic Healthcare customers. You will provide vertical expertise and architectural leadership to Business Development and Strategic Pursuit and Capture teams. You will differentiate yourself among the sales beehive and drive more strategic engagement with VMware customers.

In this strategic role, you will harness your extensive Healthcare domain expertise, engineering, and architecture skills to accelerate customer outcomes based on VMware's and other commercial cloud solutions You will align Healthcare IT Enterprise requirements with solutions that resonate with our Healthcare customers and key SI partners. You will create a vision match based on mutually agreed-upon objectives and ensure that the proper capabilities are presented and delivered. Building a solution may include:

  • Executing workshops

  • Conducting client interviews

  • Secondary research

  • Leading account planning

  • Coordinating with specialists and product managers.

You'll take data gathered from these activities then design the solution to realize the vision. Once the design is accepted, you will help support and lead the development of the solution.

In the SA role, you will act as a lead technologist and will be expected to have a broad understanding of technology. To be successful, you will need domain level understanding across the following areas from an overall architecture standpoint:

Location : This position will cover Western region (West of Texas). So we prefer candidates to be in that region. You will work form home and travel to client sites or meeting (post-pandemic)


  • Overall responsibility for the Technical Strategy and Solution for specific opportunities and initiatives.

  • Conduct Solutions Workshops with Customer Stakeholders to drive an understanding of the "As-Is" and, through your experiences, develop a "To-Be" architecture

  • Document the results of Solutions Workshops and effectively communicate a playback to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Understand VMware's customer IT environment and requirements and how to align VMware's technical value proposition.

  • Coordinate the technical solution with potential partners, VARS, or System Integrators.

  • Coordinate and constitute the requisite technical resources per opportunity or initiative (matrix environment).

  • Participate in developing overall program-specific capture schedule.

  • Participate in the identification, qualification, and prioritization of an opportunity pipeline

  • Contribute to the authoring of technical proposals, including technical volumes in support of VMware's Pursuit & Capture Organization.

  • Strong collaboration with the business development, core sales, and pre-sales engineering teams, service sales organization, and specialist sales and engineering teams throughout opportunities and in development stages


  • 8+ years of Information Technology experience in Healthcare.

  • 10+ years of design, implementation, consulting experience with application development

  • 5+ years of experience developing Enterprise-class infrastructure, network, or mobility architectures

  • 5 years working as a Consultant or Solution Architect (medium to a large consulting firm, a software company, systems integrator, medical provider, or payer preferred)

  • A Bachelor Sciences Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent


  • Former CIO, CTO or Datacenter Manager

  • Advanced degree in computer science, MIS, engineering, or related discipline
