Serves as primary point of contact with state and federal agencies. Develops and monitors risk and rating assumptions, and reviews state and federal documentation pertaining to actuarial assumptions used in pricing of the products. Leads department to provide management with analyses, reporting and recommendations on product performance. Other responsibilities include calculation/review of reserves and forecasting/trend analysis.PRINCIPAL DUTIES:Interprets state and federal requirements related to product design, rate development, and premium stabilization programs.Performs actuarial modeling including development of lag triangles, completion factors, trends and reserve requirements.Manages federal actuarial filings, including Medicare Advantage bid submission.Manages state actuarial pricing submissions, review of proposed rating assumptions, communication with the state, and participation in state-hosted meetings.Designs and builds complex data models.Performs quantitative analysis of actuarial, financial, utilization and cost data.Interfaces with delivery system partners to understand analytic needs and present results.Requests and reviewing work of outside actuarial consultants.Manages projects from inception to completion.Tracks requests for analyses, prioritize, delegate as appropriate, and deliver on time.Identifies barriers to success. Finds and implements solutions. Maintains, improves and documents department procedures.Collaborates with IS.and.amp;T colleagues to improve business intelligence available to all employees, through efforts such as data visualization.Participates in CHPW strategic goal teams related to new programs/initiatives.Builds a cohesive, motivated team through clear direction, high expectation and delegation of responsibility and accountability.
