Tracking Code2021-73Job DescriptionTogether with our partners, Comagine Health works to improve health and create a better healthcare system so that people and communities will flourish.Working independently and in collaboration with teammates, the Healthcare Data Analyst designs and executes analyses for projects across a variety of health topics - identifying appropriate methodologies, writing code, analyzing output, problem-solving with partners, and communicating results. Analysts work with a diverse range of datasets - for example, claims data, public health registries, EHR abstracts, patient outcomes surveys, and Census data - and whether coding a statewide performance measure, conducting a program evaluation, or offering technical assistance to a provider in managing their data, analysts will contribute toward improving community health and the quality of our healthcare systems.What you'll be doing for us:Strategy: with minimal direction, determine the best methodological approaches to answering the questions asked by stakeholders and clientsProgramming: utilizing solid programming skills to manage, manipulate, and analyze datasets to produce clean and accurate datasets and results, for both regularly-scheduled and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.Analysis: analyze data and results; assess the reliability and validity of the results and what they mean for the client's original question.Communicating: clearly communicate problems, solutions, ideas, and results; describe and summarize advanced technical information into accessible formats for non-analytics decision-makers.Problem-solving: independently and with partners, identify issues in datasets, methodologies, or other steps of the process and brainstorm and execute sound, defensible solutions.Customer service: offering quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders - being responsive to their needs and helping them achieve their goals; proactive in addressing issues as they arise.Quality control: participate in internal quality control processes; contribute to the standardization of processes for regular reports and deliverables; create technical manuals, user guides, and/or detailed methodology sections that document the decision-making and methods used for different projects; promote accessibility and sustainability in quality control and documentation; ensure the accuracy and quality of final products.Expert resource: serve as a subject matter expert on how to best interpret and use available data for both internal and external stakeholders; provide technical assistance to stakeholders.Required SkillsWhat would make you a strong fit for our role:Familiarity with using healthcare data (e.g. claims data; other administrative data; public health data; EHR data; etc.)Expertise in manipulating and analyzing large datasets and navigating relational databases - e.g., multi-million record healthcare claims databasesMinimum of 4 years of experience in programming, such as using SAS, SQL, R, Python, Stata, or other languages (some knowledge of SQL specifically required)Proficiency in clearly presenting complex technical information to others; ability to provide technical advice and assistance to non-analytics staff on the proper use of existing data resources and analytic approachesAbility to organize multiple simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced team environment; ability to work effectively and efficiently with little directionExcellent teamwork, customer service, and interpersonal skillsExcellent oral and/or written communications skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detailRequired ExperienceRequired Experience:BA/BS degree in epidemiology, public policy, social sciences, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a relate
