The Healthcare Quality Strategy Senior Director will be responsible for leading the team that supports Janssen therapeutic area products, advising on and carrying out a Strategic Customer Group (SCG) departmental vision for the development of the quality strategy in partnership with health policy and advocacy, brand marketing, medical and scientific Affairs, and the global commercial, market access/R&D, J&J government affairs teams.

The Healthcare Quality Strategy Senior Director will be responsible for the building and supporting of Janssen therapeutic area(s) quality metric based and value-based solution development, internal SCG and brand(s) account support, directing and providing a vision for the development of the quality strategy in concert with current Policy dictates and SCG and Brand strategy. This role requires a trusted healthcare quality expert who empowers the organization by understanding and facilitating use of key U.S. quality measure and payment model insights to inform strategic decision making for marketed and pipeline products. The Healthcare Quality Strategy Senior Director is responsible for facilitating in-depth, focused, reliable U.S. quality intelligence and analyses, encompassing U.S. health care policy and clinical medicine changing landscape. The individual must have the proven ability to reputably represent Janssen in both external and internal forums, quickly assess scientific and U.S. healthcare policy and quality information, give guidance and strategic support for future trends for our business partners to inform Janssen product strategy. The Healthcare Quality Strategy Senior Director also ensures that the quality plan is aligned with the needs of the changing marketplace, goals & objectives of key stakeholders and the franchise strategic plans that differentiates Janssen in the marketplace.
Leadership of, and close collaboration and mentorship of, the Healthcare Quality team in all therapeutic areas will be key for success. This person will contribute to existing strategies and also support new strategic direction(s) and insight across the Janssen therapeutic area portfolio. This individual leads the team that supports the quality framework for all products in conjunction with health policy and advocacy, brand, medical and scientific affairs, and the global commercial, market access /R&D teams and J&J government affairs. This individual will also serve an expert resource to all internal partners on the evolving delivery and payment models in both public and private payer spaces, and duties will also include representing Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc., at health care quality conferences and executive meetings.
The Healthcare Quality Strategy Senior Director will lead the Healthcare Quality team to effectively collaborate with Health Policy and Advocacy to enhance strategic relationships with Quality Organizations and Quality Directors within Medical Societies to uncover compliant oncology focused value-based care initiatives centered on achieving the Triple Aim and National Quality Priorities.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
An MD, DO, Nurse Practitioner or PharmD is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of healthcare industry experience is required.
Business acumen, strong communication and presentation skills and healthcare environment acumen required.
Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem interdependencies consistent with public and private payers, delivery systems including traditional FFS, IDN and ACO models including understanding of Quality rating systems (Medicare STAR, other) and their use in provider reimbursement models (MACRA, OCM) as well as basic knowledge of shared risk, value-based contracting, and full capitation is required.
The ability to lead, influence, and negotiate with others (externally and internally) with or without direct authority is required.
Advanced skills and competencies to effectively understand quality and evolving payment models, proposed reimbursement policies and their impact on payers and providers is required.
Demonstrated strong public speaking and communications skills are required.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and develop innovative approaches and solutions to complex problems required.
Previous people management and experience collaborating across functions/teams required.
Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, private payers and IDNs, CMS Payment Policies and related Quality Measurement, National Patient Safety Goals, Institute of Medicine Core Measurement Set, Triple Aim and National Quality Priorities is preferred.
Experience and understanding models in quality reporting and performance improvement is strongly preferred.
Prior clinical experience preferred.
Leadership experience in health system or payer environments, related to Clinical Standardization of Care, including Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Value Analysis Committees, use of Clinical Pathways and Clinical Decision Support is desired.
