• Can carry out deep sub-level analytics to identify causes and explanations for healthcare phenomena, and develop reliable solutions for clients and stakeholders
Role and Responsibility
Work independently and with other data scientists and senior analytics team members to design and execute a broad range of quantitative analytical tasks
Design, develop, and prototype algorithms and statistical/machine learning procedures to extract insights at scale; assess and communicate tradeoffs among each set of options
Apply computational methods for causal inference/c ausal discovery (e.g., construct causal graphs)
Develop scalable, efficient, and automated processes to segment populations, classify and risk stratify cohorts of patients
Research and develop approaches to modeling patient and provider behavior through analysis
Experience, Qualifications and Education
5-10 years of related experience as well as an advanced level degree in a quantitative discipline (applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, computer science or an equivalent related field) - Master’s or PhD;
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline with the right combination of industry experience or certification in Data Science will be considered
Prior experience in applied probability is highly desirable
Expertise and confidence in combinations of statistical computing, scripting, querying and other programming tools used by data scientists (R, Matlab, Scikit, Shiny, RapidMinder, Python, T-SQL, Hive, Pig)
Proficiency in data visualization strategies (e.g., combinations of ggplot, Google Visualization API tools)
Expertise in machine learning techniques, especially Bayesian methods, dimension reduction techniques, ensemble models, feature selection algorithms and graph-based learning models
Deep understanding of and ability to communicate what approaches work best for what types of problems
A background in algorithm development
Prior experience/expertise in payer analytics space or claims transactional , conducting analytics using claims data and clinical data from sources such as EHR or other clinical information systems
Leadership & management
Willingness and emerging ability to lead projects and manage project phases or smaller projects in their entirety including project management and plan development.
Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in an expedient and decisive manner.
Communicates effectively, earns unquestioned credibility with each set of stakeholders.
Detail-oriented and fact-based; focused on getting the best answer for clients and stakeholders
