Mental Health Partners Senior Healthcare Accountant in United States

Purpose:

To apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare accurate and timely financial reports by compiling information and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for recording, tracking, processing depreciation, and retirement of fixed assets for MHP. The position will also perform monthly closing procedures, reports, analysis and reconciliations, including specified Balance Sheet accounts.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains a tracking system for fixed assets to ensure timely and accurate processing of set up, depreciation and retirement entries

  • Ensures appropriate documentation is obtained and maintained for all fixed asset

  • Review and post AP entries

  • Prepares and posts monthly journal entries and required reporting

  • Researches journal entries and other information to solve accounting discrepancies

  • Prepares and analyzes account and bank reconciliations

  • In collaboration with other accounting staff, performs monthly closing procedures, reports, analysis and reconciliations

  • Supports Controller with preparation of MHP financials, including researching inconsistencies and questions

  • Completes routine and ad hoc financial analyses and reports

  • Follows established accounting and accounting control procedures

  • Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness

  • Recommends, develops and maintains financial databases, computer software systems and manual filing systems

  • Reviews and monitors the input and handling of financial data and reports for the automated accounting system

  • Provides problem solving assistance and back up to other accounting staff, as needed

  • Meets defined individual and department goals, activity metrics and Key Performance Indicators

  • Promotes, supports and demonstrates MHP’s mission, vision and values through both behavior and job performance and adheres to policies, procedures, Compliance Plan and Standards of Conduct on a day to day basis

  • Effectively interacts and communicates with other MHP staff/clients/customers/partners/etc.

  • Assists auditors, as necessary, by providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal processes and grant requirements

  • Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform other essential functions of the job

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to build and manage relationships with internal customers, funders and auditors

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; positive and professional attitude; interacts easily with people

  • Excellent work management skills, including strong ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Must be detail oriented and able to ensure accuracy of work

  • Strong mathematical aptitude, including an ability to analyze mathematical information quickly

  • Oracle NetSuite knowledge preferred

  • 10-key by touch

  • Must be able to work independently as well as member of a team

  • Experience and aptitude using business systems and computers

  • Experience in contract negotiations a plus

  • Advanced computer skills to include: MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook

Education/Experience/License/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required

  • Five (5)+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience in a non-profit organization
