Responsibilities

The American Heart association has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Manager Business Development, Healthcare Quality Improvement!

Please note: This position can be remote/home office based in a virtual work role serving a specific region(s) geographically/remotely and possibly from a regional AHA office if applicable in Midwest, Eastern and Southeast states. Hiring manager will define the region/territory/market. This may be subject to change, especially in a virtual coverage capacity.

Responsible for leading a business development team to identify, build and expand on sales efforts to Healthcare Systems such as hospitals, clinics, EMS organizations and State/Local Departments of Health (DOH). Responsible for developing and executing an annual strategic plan and yearly sales goal increase in market penetration for the AHA Quality Portfolio. Responsible for promoting the adoption of the Quality Improvement products, including registries, QI collaboratives, Systems of Care and Certification products which establish and improve standards of care. Responsible for prospecting from more than 1,000 hospitals to set and achieve sales targets. Also responsible for leading team to identify customers, create ROI cases studies, and close Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) and Certification contracts.

  • Leads sales team working with healthcare institutions to target and convert existing and new QI portfolio contract sales. Oversee activities in an assigned territory focused on building relationships with hospitals, healthcare systems, outpatient clinics and post-acute care facilities. Develops metrics to measure progress towards sales goals and to model pricing strategy

  • Uses knowledge and understanding of the Quality Systems Improvement (QSI) program functionality, features, data requirements, security, and minimum technology standards to engage new accounts. Develops and presents QSI features and benefits in the sales process including the ROI of program participation and opportunities for cross-selling of other Regional and National AHA products, programs, and services

  • Collaborates closely with the assigned region team to develop and plan sales pipeline, account management, and site recruitment. Assesses regional regulatory requirements and market level Systems of Care activities to identify development opportunities

  • Trains, motivates, and oversees team to follow appropriate contracting processes and IT technology requirements for proper utilization of the GWTG registries, certification products, and outpatient QI activities

  • Prepares and provides updates to immediate supervisor and Region Executive Vice President and Sr. VP of Health on progress on leads and conversion of Quality Portfolio programs and products

  • Calculates and manages sales goals in number of products and revenue targets by guiding the team on proper pricing models, multi-contract discounts and bundling opportunities for growing the book of business for the Quality Portfolio

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of relevant experience

  • Experience with business development or fund-raising in AHA or related non-profit

  • Experience in building and managing relationships with external alliances or partners

  • Experience identifying and building relationships with key volunteers in hospital or clinical settings

  • Supervisory experience leading and motivating a successful business development team

  • Ability to interact and engage with C-Suite, ideally in hospital setting

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate direct reports to achieve sales goals

  • Ability to formulate effective business-to-business marketing/sales plans

  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven negotiation skills

  • Excellent written and oral communications

  • GWTG Sales Experience
