Job Title:Sr. Healthcare Network Engineer
Location:Washington, DC
The Sr. Network Engineer will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. The candidate will:
Ensure scalability, availability, performance, and architecture/engineering practices for a large scale EHR system
Assess, validate, and optimize end-to-end systems infrastructure and architecture
Work with technical leads and systems engineers as a SME
Lead project teams and initiatives related to EHR systems, infrastructure, and deployment
Develop roadmaps and plans for next generation capabilities
Provide guidance to government executives and technical teams on issues, best practices, and optimal methods
Validate project deliverables
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare IT, computer science, electronics engineering, engineering or technical related field
10+ years of Network Engineering experience with 5+ years on large scale systems required
Minimum of 5 years of experience is required. An additional 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirement
Experience independently designing and developing new software products or major enhancements to existing software for a healthcare/clinical environment
Ability to perform as highest-level technical expert, addressing problems of systems integration, compatibility, healthcare semantics, informatics and multiple platforms
Ability to see projects to completion in addition to performing feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management
Experience with Network Engineering and Internetworking
SME in Networks and internetworking or server, applications engineering
Industry certifications (INCOSE, CCIE, MCSE/A, CISSP)
Experience with enterprise network concepts (MPLS, prioritization, segmentation, load balancing, segmentation, continuity of operations DR/COOP)
Experience with scalability analysis and modeling
Experience with system (end-to-end) performance assessment and optimization
Systems integration experience
Experience with Cisco network solutions (core enterprise switches/routers, to wireless and edge)
Experience with F5 Load balancers
Root cause problem analysis
Additional qualifications:
Experience in the VA or DoD
Experience with program/project management or PMP
Experience integrating electronic health records
